The problem

Most local business websites are doing the bare minimum.

They're slow. They're rented from someone you can't reach. They cost $1,500 a month in SEO retainers with no clear way to tell if any of it's working.

A lot of "web designers" in Australia are charging tradies and small businesses $500–1,000 for a recoloured WordPress template. It looks fine for a week. Then a plugin breaks, the site crashes, and the guy who built it has stopped answering emails.

Most agencies disappear once you've signed. The site you paid five grand for sits on their hosting, on their CMS, with their lock-in. If you ever want to leave, you're starting over.

I built this offer for local business owners because there's a better deal available — and most people don't know it exists.

Why I'm different

A website that brings in business is a different product to one that just exists.

Most web designers build something that looks fine and call it done. For a local business owner, that's not enough. The goal is more enquiries, more bookings, more phone calls, more revenue — and that requires three things working at once:

01

A site Google wants to rank.

Speed, structure, and the right signals — done properly, not bolted on. Local search isn't getting easier, and AI tools are reshaping how customers find businesses like yours. Your site needs to be set up for both.

02

A site that turns visitors into customers.

Fast loading, clear messaging, easy to read on a phone, easy to contact you. Most local websites lose people in the first three seconds. Mine don't.

03

A site that grows with you.

As you add services, suburbs, or photos, you can update the site yourself without breaking it. Or I'll do it at an hourly rate. Either way, the site doesn't lock you in.

Built by someone who does SEO for a living, not someone who learned WordPress.

Show me how it actually works

How I actually build it.

The pitch above is the outcome. Here's the engineering behind it, for anyone who wants to look under the bonnet.

The stack: Astro and Cloudflare.

Astro is a modern web framework that ships almost zero JavaScript by default. Pages are built into static HTML at deploy time and served from Cloudflare's edge network — meaning the site is delivered from a server geographically close to whoever's loading it. The result is page loads measured in milliseconds, not seconds, on any device on any connection.

For comparison: a typical WordPress site on shared hosting loads in 3–6 seconds on a 4G phone. The sites I build load in under 1.5 seconds. Google has been using page speed as a ranking factor since 2018, and the gap between fast and slow sites has only widened since.

Structured data, hardcoded.

Every page on every site I build ships with LocalBusiness JSON-LD schema baked into the source code. This is the structured signal Google and AI tools use to understand your business — your services, your service areas, your hours, your address, your phone number, your reviews. Without it, search engines have to guess. With it, they know.

This is the difference between being one of ten blue links and being the answer Google's AI Overview actually cites. As more searches happen via AI tools — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's own AI Mode — being the cited answer matters more than being on page one.

Local Pack and citations.

For local businesses, Google's Local Pack (the map results at the top of local searches) drives more clicks than the regular blue links combined. Getting into the Local Pack requires three things: a properly configured Google Business Profile, consistent business information across the web, and locally relevant signals.

I handle all three. Your Google Business Profile gets claimed, categorised correctly, fully populated, and seeded with initial photos and posts. Your business gets listed across the Australian directories Google trusts. Same name, same address, same phone, every time.

Why ownership matters.

Astro sites compile to plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no database, no server-side dependencies, no proprietary platform. Your domain is registered to you. Your hosting account is yours. Your content lives in a CMS you have full admin access to.

If I disappeared tomorrow, your site would keep working. Any developer in Australia could pick up the project. You could move hosts in an afternoon. There's no platform lock-in because there's no platform.

What I don't do.

I don't run paid ad campaigns. I don't write monthly blog content. I don't manage your social media. I build the foundation — the asset that compounds — and refer specialists for everything else.

This is deliberate. The agencies that try to do everything end up doing nothing well. I do one thing properly: build the website that ranks, converts, and belongs to you.

How it works

Three steps. Two weeks. Done.

01

You pay and fill out a brief.

Tell me your services, service areas, hours, and a few photos. No long discovery calls — takes about five minutes on your phone.

⚡ Built for speed

A site that loads instantly ranks higher and keeps customers around. Slow sites lose both.

02

I build your site.

Five pages, properly structured for performance and search. Google Business Profile sorted. Local listings submitted. I send a staging link to review.

🔍 Built to be found

Set up so Google and AI tools know exactly who you are and what you do. You become the answer, not just a result.

03

You get the keys.

Domain, hosting, CMS — all in your name, all under your control. I hand over the logins and walk away. Optional $99/month if you want me to keep the tech stack running.

🔑 You own everything

Your domain. Your hosting. Your content. No platform lock-in. No retainer trap. Cancel anything, anytime.

Who builds your site

Tyler Waugh

Senior SEO Specialist — Melbourne

I'll be the one building your site — not an account manager, not an offshore team. I'm a full-time SEO specialist and I built this service because the options most local business owners have are genuinely bad: the $500 WordPress site that breaks in a month, and the $5,000 agency build you don't own and can't leave. There's a better deal. This is it.

You'll have my email and my mobile. Most enquiries I respond to within a few hours. If something goes sideways after launch, you hear from me directly — not a support ticket queue.

FAQ

The questions everyone asks.

What if my new site doesn't actually rank?

The site is built to rank — fast, properly structured, and configured the way Google and AI tools expect. But ranking isn't instant. Local SEO usually takes 60 to 120 days to show real movement, depending on how competitive your area is and how active your Google Business Profile is. I set you up for it. The compounding happens after launch.

What if I hate the design?

Two rounds of revisions are included. If after both rounds you're still not happy, I'll rebuild it. I'd rather rebuild than have you stuck with something you don't like — and at $1,750, I can afford to.

What happens to my existing Google reviews and search rankings?

Reviews stay where they are — they belong to your Google Business Profile, not your website, so they're untouched. For search rankings, I set up redirects from your old URLs to your new ones so any existing rankings carry over. Most clients see no drop and a steady climb.

What if I need help six months from now and you're not around?

Reasonable concern. Three things protect you: you own everything from day one (domain, hosting, content, CMS), so nothing depends on me being around. The tech stack I use is widely supported — any developer in Australia can pick it up. And the optional $99/month Rego is cancel-anytime, so you're never tied in.

What does the $99/month actually do?

It keeps the boring stuff working — domain renewals, hosting, security updates — and includes 30 minutes of content updates per month for small text or photo changes. You also get access to a performance dashboard combining Google Search Console and GA4 data so you can see how your site is actually performing. Anything beyond 30 minutes is billed at $150/hour, always quoted upfront so there are no surprises. Most clients keep it because it's cheaper and easier than managing the tech themselves. Skip it if you'd rather handle everything yourself.
